By means of trademark protection one acquires exclusive right to distinctive marks for goods or services.

Any distinctive mark which can be reproduced graphically, for example words, figures, combinations of words and figures and an item’s shape, equipment and packaging, can be registered as a trademark. Sound marks and colour marks can also be registered.

A requirement for obtaining protection is that the trademark has a distinctive character for the goods and services it is to protect. Additionally, a trademark must not be confused with other trademarks for the same or similar services.
