Onsagers is a private consultancy in the field of intellectual property protection. The company was started in 1945 by Per Onsager, brother of Lars Onsager who received the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1968. In 1997 Onsagers AS merged with Defensor AS.

Onsagers has grown to become one of Norway’s leading consultancies in this field, and today has over fifty employees. More than twenty of these employees have technical and/or legal skills.

We handle our clients’ rights with regard to patent and trademark authorities in Norway, Europe, UK and USA. In other parts of the world we have an extensive collaboration with local experts in intellectual property rights.

Our head office is located in Oslo. In addition we have regional offices in Bergen and Tromsø. Onsagers Ltd. in London enables us to represent our clients with regard to British patent and trademark authorities and European trademark authorities.

In the course of many years Onsagers has become known for its committed and productive interactions with its clients. This is a tradition of which we are proud and with which we intend to continue.
